JBL Voyager - Desktop cum Portable Bluetooth speaker review

Design : The USP of this speaker is its design. This speaker is made up of two units – A portable battery operated Bluetooth unit and a stationary  wall powered subwoofer. The portable unit fits neatly into the subwoofer. This is a ‘one of its kind’ desktop cum portable speaker. The sub also has an Aux in if you don't want to connect via bluetooth. The portable unit has a battery life of around 5 hours, which charges itself in the subwoofer. Can also be charged via USB. The speaker grill is prone to dust. Check out the images.

Sound :
Bass : Frequency reproduction is excellent! But the lows are not very loud. Helps maintain a very natural and balanced sound.  No useless boom, crisp and tight. Not for those who want to shatter their windows with that ‘boom boom’.

Mids : Brilliant!. Crisp and clear vocals. And those snare hits are gonna make you jump every time. ‘Eargasmic mids’ is what I call it.

Highs : Bang on. Crystal clear Hi hats and cymbals. A lot of speakers lose their charm in the upper end of the sound spectrum, but the voyager doesn’t let you down at all. Perfect shimmer that would make you smile every time.

These speakers have a very balanced sound. One issue is that the bass gets overpowered by the higher frequencies sometimes, making that ‘Punch’ sound miserable. The portable unit is pretty loud for a Bluetooth speaker, and has a lot of clarity. The low end is missing out on the satellite for obvious reasons but If you have the money, this is a good gadget to spend it on!

Clarity
: Brilliant – you can listen to every detail in its full glory. The only issue is that this is practically a mono unit. Although it has a 2.1 channel driver configuration but the sound comes only from 1 direction, no virtual projection like those fancy soundbars. Not good for gaming and 3D sounds.

Price : MRP – 14990, can be bought for as low as 10000.

Overall : I’d give them a 4 out of 5  (extra points for that design).

A unique speaker set which will satisfy both your portable needs and eargasmic urges. This speaker is best for those who want to carry their music around their house, but also want a good desktop sound system and not invest into a standalone Bluetooth speaker. The lack of any stereo separation is an issue.
You can get a better “sound” for the price range, But in this case, it is also the design that you pay for.

JBL Tempo Headphones - Review

This is my first blogpost ever, and since I am not that good a writer, I went with the idea of reviewing JBL products that I get being a 'youth brand ambassador' - the JBL Groove Baba at Harman India. Visit our webpage here - JBL Groove Babas

Here's my review for the JBL Tempo Headphones :

Sound :

Bass : Amazing! – Reproduces every note with perfect clarity. Slightly louder and boomier than expected, but brilliant lows.

Mids : Good. The snares and vocals hit you like they should.

Highs : Slightly Muddy. The hi hats and cymbals can get lost in the lows. A software EQ may come in handy.

The headphones have a very warm signature. the moment you play a song, you can notice the low frequency boost that these headphones have. The treble lacks that charm but this is the best you can get in this price range.

Clarity
: Very nice. Great stereo separation.

Design : Looks great! On the ear design. Snug fit on the head – good for joggers too, the grip is comfortable and not like the notorious vice grip of the similar range sennheisers. Build quality is nice – with solid plastic and metal, and soft cushioned headband and earpads, feels very sturdy and durable.

Price : MRP – 2500, can be bought for as low as 1600.

Overall : I’d give them a 4 out of 5
.

For regular listening, they are worth every penny you spend on them. But if you are an audiophile, be prepared to shell out at least three times the price that the Tempo asks for.
